“We would like to clarify and strongly emphasize that the circulating Facebook post attributed to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas regarding Iloilo City being placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and referring to “Monkey Pox disease 2025 (MPOX 25)” is FAKE NEWS.

Upon verification, the Facebook artwork used in the said post was originally released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and was confirmed by Bombo Radyo management to be an old post dating back to that time. It is clearly being taken out of context and altered to mislead the public.

Let me reiterate that any official statement from Mayor Jerry P. Treñas will only be released through myself as his spokesperson, or directly through his verified social media account “Jerry Treñas.” The Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo City Health Office official Facebook pages are also reliable and authorized platforms for critical and verified public information.

While we do not undermine the importance of public awareness regarding MPOX, we assure the public that the Iloilo City Health Office is actively monitoring the situation and implementing appropriate measures.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas is closely coordinating with health authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of our constituents.

We urge everyone to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified and outdated content, and help us fight misinformation. Let us all be responsible digital citizens. Stop spreading fake news.” — Aksyon Marvin Malificiar
